Theological Stand
PASTORAL CARE CENTER FOR AFRICA
KIBAHA TANZANIA:
The Theological underpinning of this model through, teaching, counseling , coaching, and mentorship is based on three key components:
A). TheBibleisourtextbook: But, we must quickly note that, the Bible will not be the only text book. Other good books from different authors focusing on Pastoral Care will be utilized. That does not exclude Journal articles, and personal testimonies of successful pastors or clergy who have been helped through such the center here in Tanzania or other Pastoral Care centers overseas.
B). HolySpiritastheguide: This differs from the approach of Pentecostals where the emphasis is primarily speaking in tongues only. While we are not minimizing the importance of that speaking in tongues, yet, we are looking at the fruit of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit and the Operation of the Holy Spirit as noted in the book of Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles. This is pastoral Care Center of clergy from all denominations and for that matter, emphasis of one doctrine of one denomination is not our goal. We do realize that emphasis on the Holy Spirit in a BIBLICAL BALANCED MANNER (Emphasis mine), will not leave any clergy out regardless of their denominational background.
C). JesusastheModel: Since we do not have any Pastoral Care Center we know of in East and Central Africa, our team thought it is wise that we do not pin ourselves with biases and teaching or training which are not Christocentric. Most major denominations in Africa are Christ Centered. So if our focus is on Christ as the model our theology will be balanced. To say the least TRINITARIAN APPROACH TO OUR COUNSELING carries us through a foundation which embraces many denominations. Since our focus is on PREVENTION by cheerleading failing or struggling pastors from hitting rock-bottom, one can see that the balanced, and spiritual healthy training and counseling which is Christocentric will pull these pastors up. It is our prayer and mission to always bring the pastors to focus on Christ who called them and not man or their denominations as much as they may love them. The one who died for the church and who promised to build it so the gates of hell shall not prevail against it know what He is doing. Our Center is here to serve Him Christ as He leads the ship.
In Christ, Dr. Edwin N. Misigaro
